2023 Hurrithon

2023 Fundrazr Link

What Is The Hurrithon?

During their practices, the kids will SWIM AS MANY LAPS AS THEY CAN. Laps will be counted, and the kids will swim only as long as their practice. They can use fins and/or kickboards. There are 2 parts to Hurrithon: Distance Swimming and Fundraising. Back in the day (the Hurricanes are 35 years young this season), swimmers would ask for a per lap donation and try to swim as many laps as possible. We would choose when to have Hurrithon based on who we'd swim that week because the meet after Hurrithon was EPIC - the kids would swim some of their best times of the season, and the Hurricanes would often WIN the MEET!

Nowadays, with the advent of Fundrazr and GoFundMe, most people just donate a set amount, which is convenient and generous and we're thrilled to have the donations!

But we want to incentivize BOTH goals. SO! We have prizes....

PRIZES

To reward our swimmers for all of their hard work, swimmers will get a freshly-made pancake and fruit breakfast. (** Please contact us if you require gluten or dairy free pancakes.)

MOST LAPS Winners: Males and Females in each age group will get to be COACH FOR A DAY!!

GRAND PRIZE: A still to be announced fabulously fun family experience

How it works:

  • Individuals and Families: Raise $250 and your name gets put in the drawing for the Grand Prize.
  • Individual swimmers can get their names put in an additional time for every $25 raised over $250.
  • Corporate matching is highly encouraged, because this IS a fundraiser, but matching funds cannot be considered in the drawing.
  • Everyone who raises $250 gets their name put in the drawing for the Grand Prize. Each additional $25 gets your name put in one more time.

When Is the Hurrithon? The Hurrithon will be held Wednesday, June 14th at our pool during regular swim practice. All laps will be swam this day. However, donations will be accepted through June 30th.

Why Are We Raising Money? As Winston Churchill said, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." Did you know we are 100% volunteer run? Our registration fees are very low and don't cover the full expenses of running a swim team and hosting meets. We raise money to offset these costs in order to keep registration fees affordable so all kids have the opportunity to swim with the Hurricanes.

GOALS

Our fundraising goal this season is $5000. Every dime of our Registration Fees are spent on our Coaching Budget and our fixed costs: Pool use fee and a new $600 lane line. So, we must fundraise for everything else, and this season we'd like to help cover the costs of our amazing coaching staff, purchase a lane line, and replace all of the tents we have lost over the last few years due to weather. We are also working toward replacing the shed that leaks every time it rains. Help us raise $5000 by June 30th by sharing the link below.

Please tell your donors to indicate WHICH SWIMMER/S their donation should be credited, so we can track the totals.

If you have cash or checks, please contact our treasurer Lisa, to make arrangement for turning in the donations at [email protected]

MONEY IS DUE by June 25th. Online donations will run through June 30th. We’ve extended the deadline to July 7th
